US hopes India meet price cap for oil purchases from Russia
WASHINGTON, Jun 26 (PRIME) -- The U.S. is not against India's oil purchases from Russia and hopes the country will continue to take advantage of the price cap, National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said late on June 23 at a briefing.
“India has to make its own choices about oil purchases. And we hope that we can continue to see that they purchase Russian oil at or below the price cap, as they have been,” he said.
The West agreed to a U.S. $ 60 a barrel price cap, compliance with which exempts Russian oil from the sanctions on shipments by sea.
